Hi there!
The main reason Children fear going to the dentist is because of the āPainfulā injection. However, in this video, we demonstrate that with the use of topical anesthetic gel, audio-visual distractions and good injection technique, the child an be unaware of receiving the injection and have a happy successful dental visit.
The video is in the native language of the child. Speaking in a language the child is most comfortable with elicits the best response and cooperation from the child. The description is given below.
There are three main ways we reduce the discomfort of injection to the child.
1. Use of topical anesthetic gel. We massage the gel for 1-2 minutes. This helps soften the prick of the injection.
2. Block the childās view and give the injection in such a way that he never sees it at any point in his entire visit. We achieve this by Readying the shot behind the childās back, blocking his view with our hand during the injection process and we love using our Ceiling TV as the ultimate distraction.
3. A good injection technique. We very slowly inject the area, often taking 1 whole minute for the step. We have found that Slow injecting can drastically reduce the discomfort of the child.
Finally, we wait for at least 5 minutes before starting any procedure to make the sure the anesthetic is at its peak action and complete numbness is in effect.
With children, we never get a second chance to gain his trust. Therefore, we have to make sure we are achieving painless anesthesia in the first go. A painless, tear-free dental visit makes one happy customer, one happy child!
Bonus tip for Parents: Substitue the word "Injection" with "Sleepy medicine".
