Dentists are not doctors. Told to me in jest. In all seriousness. To put me down. As a counter argument. Going to work on a holiday I wanted for so long, I wondered why we have to keep hearing this time and again.
To everyone who agrees, I do not mind if you think so. I do not in any way think I am a medical doctor, nor will I attempt to do surgeries on your hands and legs or prescribe you medication for issues other than with your oral cavity.
But do we deserve the same respect as someone who treats your other body parts? Definitely so.
Teeth are not as important, so dentists are not as important. Okay. You can say that to a patient with severe toothache. Or to a patient who now has bloating, digestive issues, etc because they are gulping down food, after losing their teeth.
Food is the fuel to your body. Your digestion begins in your mouth. Your teeth begin the process of breaking down the food. If the breakdown is affected, your health is affected.
So call us doctors or don't, I don't care. My only advice is to save your teeth, or keep taking trips to 'real' doctors frequently for all the other health issues arising from neglect.
