DIET AND FACIAL GROWTH IN CHILDREN! HAS WESTERN DIET AFFECTED FACIAL GROWTH?
The I’ll effects of processed food is not limited only to the general health but it also strongly influences how our faces develop.
🌟Just as physical activity helps enhance the general health and is believed to help increase the child’s height, Chewing helps bone cells to be deposited while helping in laying down the bone matrix. This helps in the horizontal and vertical bone growth in response to mechanical force of chewing.
🌟Facial muscles derive their correct shape and function from the jawbones.
🌟 Proper tongue position and swallowing pattern play an important role. If there is a wider palate the tongue can rest in the roof of the mouth and guide the growth. insufficient growth could lead to the tongue resting in the lower jaw and the jaws tend to under develop. This could lead to narrow jaws, open mouth and May also be one of the causes of mouth breathing.
How much we chew, and what we chew substantially dictates the shape and growth of our jaws. Children who eat more refined foods have smaller and lesser developed jaws than those who eat traditional diets with tough foods.
