A case of root submergence technique for pontic site development in fixed dental prostheses in the maxillary anterior esthetic zone-

The root submergence technique preserves the periodontium surrounding a root without requiring an extraction.

A submerged root maintains the periodontal attachment complex, preventing the resorption of the alveolar bone on the buccal and lingual walls, as well as on the interproximal area.As a result, this technique maintains the dimension of the alveolar ridge and the surrounding tissue.

Here the lateral incisor needed and extraction.so we did a RCT and saved the tooth and submerged the root.
the tissue quality and the bone is maintained and then the emergence profile was designed by using temporary teeth.
Final results shows very natural overall profile.

This patient walked in at with a chief complaint of pain with her upper lateral incisor and she was also not very happy with her smile.

We went ahead with our diagnostic process, got X-rays done. On X-ray it revealed that there was some GP point that was there beyond the apex of the tooth and that was the reason that the patient was having pain and there was also some infection on fhat side.

We actually tried to save the tooth. did the apicoectomy, and re root canal.
We did the post and core procedure in that tooth and gave the patient a temporary crown. She still complained of pain and we waited for the pain to go and when it didn’t go, the patient requested to get an extraction. The problem with an extraction in an anterior tooth is an highly demanded sight with regards to aesthetics and doing a procedure in an anterior maxilla is the most difficult thing. Because we have to thing about the bone, structure, smile, soft tissue. So we had to take into consideration so many things before we had to consider to treat the anterior maxilla.

Here we placed an implant and then one of her central incisor was fractured incisor and we built it with composite and gave her a crown with respect to the adjacent central incisor and placed an implant with the lateral incisor immediately after extraction and we did a bone grafting into the jumping sight.

3-4 months later we went for the final aesthetics and you can see the after picture, the beautiful gingiva and the soft tissue texture and thickness, bulk which is created is as good as it is around a natural tooth.

The patient was amazed by the end of the whole treatment with the overall aesthetics with no pain at all.
