Braces vs Invisible Aligners – Which One Should YOU Choose?

06/02/2026

Bleeding Gums को कैसे रोकते हैं ?Primarily caused by plaque buildup leading to inflammation (gingivitis or periodontitis), which causes gums to become swollen and tender. Proper oral hygiene, including twice-daily brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush, flossing daily, and regular dental check-ups, is essential to reverse this, as it is often a sign of gum disease, vitamin deficiencies (C or K), or hormonal changes.

What is Dental Abrasion?
Dental abrasion is the progressive loss of tooth structure due to mechanical forces, typically caused by improper brushing, biting hard objects, or using abrasive dental products. It is different from tooth erosion (caused by acids) and tooth attrition (caused by tooth-to-tooth contact).

Causes of Dental Abrasion
Incorrect Brushing Technique
Brushing too hard or using a hard-bristled toothbrush can wear down enamel, especially near the gumline.
Abrasive Toothpaste
Some whitening or charcoal-based toothpaste contain harsh abrasives that contribute to enamel wear.
Frequent Use of Toothpicks
Using toothpicks aggressively can cause mechanical wear at the gumline.
Chewing Hard Objects
Biting on pens, nails, or using teeth to open packaging can lead to abrasion.
Frequent Use of Dental Appliances
Ill-fitting dentures or retainers may cause friction on the teeth, leading to abrasion over time.

Symptoms of Dental Abrasion
Notching or grooves near the gumline
Increased tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods
Rough or worn-down enamel
Exposed dentin, leading to a yellowish appearance
Gum recession in severe cases

Prevention of Dental Abrasion
✔ Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
✔ Brush gently using the correct technique (circular motions instead of scrubbing)
✔ Choose a low-abrasive toothpaste (avoid excessive whitening agents or charcoal)
✔ Avoid biting hard objects
✔ Use floss instead of aggressive toothpicks
✔ Wear custom-fitted mouthguards if using dental appliances

Treatment for Dental Abrasion
✅ Mild Cases: Desensitizing toothpaste to reduce sensitivity
✅ Moderate Cases: Fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel
✅ Severe Cases: Dental fillings, bonding, or veneers to restore lost structure
✅ Extreme Cases: Crowns if extensive damage has occurred
