👶This 12-day-old baby visited us with natal teeth — rare, adorable, and totally real!🦷😁
🦷 Natal teeth are teeth that are present at birth (as opposed to neonatal teeth, which erupt in the first 30 days of life
✅FACTS:-
•Occur in about 1 in 2,000–3,000 births.
•Most commonly they are the lower central incisors.
•Often these teeth are part of the normal primary dentition—they just erupt early, not extra teeth
✅APPEARANCE:-
Natal teeth may be:
• Small, loose, or poorly rooted
• Yellowish or whitish
• Conical or normal-shaped
✅Potential Problems
• Risk of aspiration if very mobile
• Ulceration on the infant’s tongue
• Feeding difficulties for the baby or mother
✅MANAGEMENT:-
Depends on mobility and symptoms:
1. If stable and asymptomatic → Leave in place, monitor.
2. If very loose (risk of aspiration) or causing ulcers/feeding issues → Extraction may be recommended.
In this case we extracted the tooth as it was mobile (grade 3)
