Doctor, main din mein 2 baar brush karta hoon, phir bhi plaque kyun aata hai?”
As dentists, this is one of the most common questions we hear. 🦷
Brushing twice a day is important, but frequency alone doesn’t guarantee that every area of your mouth is getting cleaned properly.
Plaque can still build up when:
🪥 You’re brushing for less than 2 minutes
🦷 You’re missing the gumline or the back surfaces of your teeth
🧵 You’re not cleaning between your teeth
🍬 Your diet includes frequent sugary or sticky foods
💧 You have reduced saliva flow or a dry mouth
🦷 Existing plaque has hardened into tartar, which brushing cannot remove
As dentists, we don’t just recommend brushing twice a day — we recommend brushing effectively and maintaining your complete oral hygiene routine.
A simple routine can make a big difference:
Brush twice a day + clean between your teeth + regular dental check-ups.
And remember, if you’re noticing persistent plaque or tartar despite maintaining good oral hygiene, it’s worth getting it checked rather than simply brushing harder.
