Can you get a tooth extracted and a dental implant placed on the same day?

With immediate implant placement, it is possible in selected cases. This approach may reduce the number of surgical procedures and overall treatment time.

However, immediate implant placement is not suitable for everyone. Certain conditions must be met:

Healthy, intact bone around the tooth

No active infection or pus

Adequate healthy bone beyond the tooth root to achieve primary stability

Thick, healthy gum tissue

If there is significant bone loss, active infection, chronic smoking, or uncontrolled diabetes, immediate implant placement may not be the best option. Depending on the case, your dentist may recommend allowing the extraction site to heal and performing bone grafting before placing the implant.

The right treatment plan depends on your individual condition. A CBCT scan and clinical examination can help determine whether you are a suitable candidate for immediate implant placement.
