Having an extra tooth at places which leads to crowding or even incases of simple crowding -
• it leads to unnecessary food lodgement at difficult to clean areas -> Hence, decay - which can involve a healthy tooth or the extra tooth or both.
To avoid such problems- extra tooth should be removed or crowding should be resolved by an orthodontic intervention!
In this case we had to save the premolar by a root canal treatment followed by an onlay!

Surprise!
We found an extra root in maxillary third molar which is a very rare finding.
One should not delay and get rid of decayed painful third molars if saving them is not an option.

Disimpaction is a surgical procedure of extracting a tooth which is impacted (stuck within - unable to erupt).
The tooth can be stuck in various angles causing the overlying gums to swell,
It can cause the adjacent tooth to pain by imparting pressure,
It can cause the root of the adjacent tooth to resorb,
It can even damage the adjacent tooth. (Similar case to follow soon!)
