An enriching day of learning beyond the clinic. The BDS Interns had the opportunity to visit the Ivoclar Vivadent plant, where they gained valuable insights into the art and science of esthetic restorations using composites. The visit offered an engaging glimpse into modern restorative materials, techniques, and the importance of precision in achieving natural-looking results. The industrial visit was organised by 32 Pearl – An Academic Club, under the aegis of the Department of Prosthodontics, on 20th August 2026.A wonderful experience connecting academic learning with industry exposure, inspiring our interns to explore the evolving world of esthetic dentistry.

An Oral Health Check-up and Treatment Camp was organized on 19th August 2026 at Chabili, Haryana, by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, SGT University, in collaboration with Reliance Foundation. The camp aimed to promote oral health awareness and provide accessible dental care to the rural community. Under the supervision of Dr. Surbhi Priyadarshi, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health Dentistry and postgraduate students from the Departments of Prosthodontics, Oral Surgery, and Oral Medicine along with interns conducted comprehensive oral examinations, identified dental problems, and provided necessary treatment advice and referrals.
The camp also included interactive oral health education sessions focusing on proper tooth-brushing techniques, prevention of common dental diseases, and the harmful effects of to***co on oral health. Selected cases requiring immediate attention were treated using the Mobile Dental Van at the camp site. The initiative successfully encouraged preventive dental practices and emphasized the importance of regular oral check-ups, contributing towards improved oral health awareness and access to dental services among the rural population.

A successful visit to Badsa Village, Gurugram was carried out on 17th August 2026.
The dental team was headed by Dr. Navodita Jamwal, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Public Health Dentistry.

As a part of their academic training, during their visit, our BDS interns and MDS post gradute students, conducted interactive awareness sessions with residents of the village and delivering oral health education talk on correct brushing techniques and on right choice of toothbrush and toothpaste.

By highlighting the university's continued dedication to community outreach care, the visit efficiently broadened participants' knowledge of the importance of adopting healthy oral hygiene practices among the various age groups and genders in the community. Each member of the team actively participated, establishing an excellent opportunity for experiential learning at field level.

*Collaborative Oral Healthcare Drive by SGT University* : On 17th August 2026, on the celebration of the 80th Independence Day of India, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, in collaboration with the Galleria Market Condominium Association, organised a free oral health check-up camp at Galleria Market complex, DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon. The drive led by Dr Shourya Tandon, Professor, and assisted by Interns and support staff, raised awareness of various dental diseases, their early diagnosis, and preventive care among around 75 security guards and housekeeping support staff from the association. Many support staff working at the shops in the market complex also availed the benefits of this activity. Highlighting oral health as an important part of general health and also emphasising the basic oral health needs of society, toothbrushes, toothpastes, mouthwashes, and medicines were distributed to needy patients.

Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram, organized an outreach activity at Ladpur Village, Jhajjar on 14/08/2026 under the Gramin Jan Saksharta Abhiyan to create awareness among rural communities about various Government Welfare Schemes and the benefits available to eligible citizens.

The outreach programme was led by Dr. Shagun, Reader, Department of Periodontology, along with BDS interns. The interactive awareness session focused on educating villagers about the importance of being aware of government welfare initiatives and accessing benefits related to healthcare, education, social security, schemes related to farmers, employment, housing and financial inclusion.

Special emphasis was placed on encouraging eligible beneficiaries to make use of government schemes designed to improve their quality of life and promote social and economic empowerment. The participants were guided on the importance of maintaining essential documents, checking eligibility criteria, completing the required registration process, and approaching appropriate government departments or authorized service centres for assistance.

The villagers actively participated in the discussion and shared their experiences and queries regarding government welfare programmes. The BDS interns provided simple and practical information to help villagers understand how awareness of government schemes can support families in accessing essential services and opportunities. The villagers appreciated the initiative and expressed their willingness to share the information with other members of the community.

The programme highlighted the importance of community education and awareness in ensuring that government welfare initiatives reach the people for whom they are intended. It also reinforced the role of educational institutions in empowering communities through knowledge, preventive healthcare, social awareness, and responsible citizenship.

The initiative reflects SGT University’s commitment to community outreach, social responsibility, health education, and rural empowerment, while reinforcing the message that awareness of available government welfare schemes can contribute significantly towards building healthier, more informed, self-reliant, and empowered communities.
