" DENTAL IMPLANTS IN LESS BONE" By Dr Anshuman Ahuja with 20 + years of experience in various Implant Surgeries.
Direct sinus lift or lateral window sinus augmentation, is a procedure performed to increase bone height in the posterior maxilla for successful dental implant placement when insufficient bone is available due to sinus pneumatization or post-extraction bone loss. In this technique, a lateral window is created in the maxillary sinus wall, the Schneiderian membrane is carefully elevated, and bone graft material is placed beneath it, with implants placed either simultaneously or at a later stage depending on primary stability. It is contraindicated in active sinus infections, uncontrolled systemic diseases, poor oral hygiene, and heavy smokers.
