As I injected the full 3 ml local anaesthetic to numb the lower jaw of that 6 year old girl sitting on my dental chair, I expected screams and shouts!
But I heard nothing....
Not a wince....
Not an Aah....
Nothing!
There was no change in her facial expressions!
Indeed the pain of an anaesthetic needle is nothing to the pain of losing her father at the tender age of 6.
It was a beautiful morning of November 2021 at our practice....We all charged up for patient appointments....
A lady in her mid thirties with her two lovely daughters (Prarthna and Praneeti) visited us.
Before I could understand who is patient and what is their concern, the lady started narrating all things which she and her family has been going through from past 10-15 days.( She had lost her husband and was here in the city at her brother's place. )
I didn't uttered a word, & was just listening to her. After that she said 'Mam, we belong to Uttarakhand, there are no good dental services around our place, my daughter needs dental check up; please do the needful.I want to get her treatment completed, whatever sittings you say we will come.'
I was listening to them with my eyes wide open. We did check up and suggested the treatment plan for Prarthna and it was completed in span of next 7 days.
Prarthna is the real hero of my story. It might seem to be a simple and usual incidence. But after almost 1.5 years I remember Prarthna, her sister and her mother, means there is something special about her.
Prarthna was not the usual kid. It was a delight to treat her. She would not complain of any pain or discomfort even slightest of......She was not afraid of anything though she was experiencing dental treatment for the first time.
So much calmness on her face, so much confidence, courage in her; it's beyond words.....
Prarthna was indeed special and to this day I could never forget her. Indeed some moments and some patients we can never forget in our professional journey.
So much STRENGTH, ALMIGHTY has poured in each of us. It was when her mother told us what they were going through,I realized what the little girl must be feeling.
This story is about hidden strengths in every human being. GRATITUDE TO ALMIGHTY who has bestowed us with super powers, they just need to be realized.
I was totally humbled, full of hope and energy after meeting Prarthna and her family.
I will always make PRARTHNA (prayers) for you dear Prarthna, wherever you are in this world.
I thank the Almighty for keeping me in a profession where I can make a difference in own small way.
Today on occasion of Women's Day, it's my privilege to dedicate this blog to all beautiful girls and ladies who make this world a better place to live.
A big salute to every woman around me:
