We from now will be getting many post covid cases for routine dental procedures. Especially related to exodontia and other surgical procedure.

1)) we need to be careful regarding anticoagulants being taken by patients.Almost all patients including young ones are prescribed anticoagulants post covid for minimum 1 month.

What can be done?
1. Proper History and see the drugs personally while doing 1st consultation
2. Stop the drugs by physicians' consultation prior to procedure
3. Before procedure , be well equipped with all possible local hemostasis methods.
4. If possible ,make the patient wait in waiting area for atleast half and hour & check the patient for any active bleeding before he/she leaves the clinic which will allow us to achieve hemostasis at the same time.
4. You can't prescribe them Oral hemostatic agent because they are already under hypercoaguble state for which they are on anticoagulants. So you have to depend on local hemostasis as much as possible.

2)Another point is regarding steroids.

Especially admitted patients are given high dose steroids due to which there immunity becomes low and there are all chances that we may see altered or late healing. They are also at risk for adrenal crisis if there procedure becomes stressful.

What can be done?
1. Prophylactic antibiotics
2. Short appointments and stress less procedures.

5 steps to efficient brushing

1 Place the toothbrush at a 45°angle along the gum line. Move the toothbrush in a back and forth motion, and repeat for each tooth.

2 Brush the inside surface of each tooth, using the same back and forth technique.

3 Brush the chewing surface (top) of each tooth.

4 Use tip of brush to brush behind each tooth — front and back, top and bottom and up and down strokes.

5 Be sure to brush your tongue to remove odor-causing bacteria.
