Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a branch of surgery to correct a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. icially affiliated to the International Association during the Sydney conference in 1977. The AOSI was renamed as Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AOMSI) in 1985. The AOMSI is a registered organization and admits qualified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as Life or Annual members. The Association is committed to the promotion of the specialty through its scientific deliberations and social causes. The Journal is called 'The Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery' and is the official publication of the Association. It is published four times a year from its office in Bangalore.

The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) is pleased to share that its President met Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, at her office today. The appointment was confirmed late last evening - a gesture deeply appreciated by the Association and reflective of the Minister’s commitment to engaging with the healthcare fraternity.
During the meeting, the AOMSI president conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for her continued support towards the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) specialty. The discussion included an overview of the fraternity’s ongoing contributions in trauma care, oncology, reconstructive surgery, and aesthetic surgery as well as the Association’s future plans aimed at expanding the specialty’s national footprint.
The Association also sought the Hon’ble Minister’s support and presence on International Maxillofacial Surgeons Day, proposing the release of a commemorative poster to mark the occasion.
AOMSI expresses sincere appreciation to the Hon’ble Minister and her team for their time and encouragement, and looks forward to further collaboration in advancing the cause of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in India.
