Part 6
----
Some patients find it difficult to open up—not because they don’t want to, but because they may not know how to express what they feel.
This is often seen in young children, men, and older adults. They may struggle to identify their emotions, verbalize their pain, or explain what is happening deep within them.
That is where expressive arts therapy can help. 🎨
A person doesn’t need to be an artist. Even a scribble, stroke, shape, or dot may become a starting point for expression. The way they draw, choose colours, use space, and place elements on the paper can offer clues about emotions that may be difficult to communicate through words.
Expressive art provides a safe, non-verbal space to explore feelings, emotional pain, and experiences held within the subconscious mind.
Sometimes, healing doesn’t begin with a conversation.
Sometimes, it begins with a single dot.
Expressive arts therapy should be facilitated and interpreted by a qualified professional. A drawing alone should not be used to diagnose a person.
