It's called retained deciduous dentition — when a primary tooth stays in place long after it should have fallen out, because the adult tooth underneath never developed (or never erupted properly).
When the baby crown finally gives out — chipping, decay, gum problems around it — the replacement often isn't a bridge or a veneer. It's a dental implant, planned carefully around limited bone and contoured to match what's around it.
