This myth is also a public health hazard because it could prevent people from getting root canals they need. The myth is based on Price's research, which is extremely unreliable.
Myth #4: Tooth extraction is a good alternative to root canals.
An extraction is a traumatic procedure that actually allows more bad bacteria to be introduced into the bloodstream. A root canal with a good restoration is not only cost effective, it allows you to keep your natural tooth.
Myth #5: You only need a root canal if you are experiencing tooth pain.
Sometimes teeth that have died no longer cause pain and need to have a root canal in order to avoid becoming infected.

Food Lodgement

Food Lodgement means when food gets stuck in your teeth. It can have very serious consequences. As food lodged in teeth will cause germs growth and it will cause formation of acids which causes tooth decay leading too cavities.

Why does it happen?
1. Gum diseases
Inflamed gums are usually swollen hence there becomes a space where food gets inside.

2. Cavity
This dental problem leads to constant food lodgement.

3.IMPROPER RESTORATIONS CROWNS AND BRIDGES-
Performing Dental treatments like fillings, crowns and bridges to food accumulations improperly can lead to food lodgement.

4. MALALIGNED TEETH–
Malposed position of teeth can be either be due to lack of space or presence of extra space where food can get lodged easily.

How to get Rid of it?
1. CLEANING AND FLOSSING– Cleaning leads to healthy gums which are firm and prevent any gaping between the teeth.

2. Cavity
If you have cavity then get its treatment soon as it can later cause more problems.

3. ORTHODONTIC CORRECTION–
By use of braces malpositioned teeth can be corrected, whether it’s due to lack of space or having spaces in between teeth.

4. Proper Treatment or Amendments
If food lodgement is due to improper filling or crowns and bridges then that needs to be changed
