Every problem has a solution in the same way now damaged, and decayed teeth can be replaced with the help of implants. When the smile has been significantly damaged by oral health problems, including tooth loss, full mouth reconstruction allows us to rebuild the strength, health, and function of the smile.

Dental implants allow for the replacement of the crowns and roots of the teeth. Dental implants are the only option that preserves healthy jaw bone tissues.

Here, we present a case of full mouth reconstruction with dental implants, along with the stages of treatment, to give our patients an idea of what to expect from the procedure at Kshema Specialists Clinic - Dental Care Center.

Stage One: Preparation
Prior to undergoing dental implant treatment, our team need to determine if the patient is an ideal candidate for treatment.

When significant tooth loss has occurred, it is not uncommon for other oral health issues to be present. This may include tooth decay, gum disease, or jaw bone degeneration.

Although a patient must be in good oral health prior to receiving dental implants, these conditions do not automatically exclude a patient from treatment. We can prepare a patient for dental implants by addressing these issues. Dental implant preparation will depend on the unique needs of each patient and may include restorative dentistry treatment, periodontal treatment, or a bone graft to strengthen the jaw.

Once the patient is ready to undergo dental implant treatment, we will perform a thorough evaluation to create a treatment plan. Using molds, scans and digital images of the mouth, we will determine how many dental implants need to be placed. We will map out where the implants will be positioned so that they fully support the dental restorations that will be placed later on in treatment.

Stage Two: Surgical Placement
The second stage of dental implant treatment is the surgical placement of the dental implants, which are small titanium screws, into the jaw. This procedure is performed in-clinic under local anaesthesia.

We provide patients with anesthesia and sedation to ensure they remain completely comfortable throughout treatment. A small opening is created in the gum line above the location of each dental implant, and the implant is placed into the jaw bone. Once the implants are in place, the incisions will be closed and healing will begin.

Unless a patient is receiving Same Day Teeth™, the final stage of treatment will not take place for another four to six months. During this time, the dental implants will fuse with the natural jaw tissues in a process called osseointegration.

Stage Three: Restoration Placement
The final stage of dental implant treatment is the placement of dental restorations. Dental implants can support dental crowns, a dental bridge, or fixed dentures. The restoration will attach to small metal posts that sit above the dental implant and protrude from the gum line. Once they are bonded in place, dental restorations will function just like the natural teeth. They restore oral functions, improve the appearance of the smile, and enhance oral strength.

Anterior Cross Bite Correction in a 7 year old girl with 3months treatment duration using removable orthodontic appliance.

CROSS BITE - A Brief Note

One of the most common problem to watch in your child between age group of 6-8years is
CROSSBITE

Crossbite is a form of malocclusion where a tooth (or teeth) has a more buccal or lingual position (that is, the tooth is either closer to the cheek or to the tongue) than its corresponding antagonist tooth in the upper or lower dental arch. In other words, crossbite is a lateral misalignment of the dental arches. If it involves front tooth its refered as Anterior Crossbite while if posterior teeth are involved its referred as posterior crossbite.

Crossbite in children can be caused by a number of factors. Genetics is one of the most prevalent causes of this condition. However, certain oral habits, like tongue thrusting and thumb sucking can do enough damage to ruin occlusion as well. If it is caused by habitual factors, the best way to avoid this type of malocclusion is by trying to curb any unwanted oral habits, like thumb sucking and tongue thrusting as early as possible. Children may use these habits as a coping mechanism or as a form of entertainment when they feel bored. The best way to deal with that would be to observe your child. Does the child seem stressed? Are there enough activities to keep him or her busy? Should you allow your child more play time before bedtime?
Parents should avoid nagging their children when they come across the child indulging in either tongue thrusting or thumb sucking. The easiest way to correct the problem is to try to deflect it. You can slowly take the hand away from the mouth or ask the child a question. An orthodontic pacifier may also do the trick.

Unfortunately most of the parents have this Common Myth: We Can Wait Till They’re Older
Crossbites do not go away on their own. Therefore, if a dentist suggests to wait until the child is older for treatment, it may be time to switch to another practitioner. Early treatment should always be the first option, especially if you have a cooperative child. Please note that treatment can begin as early as 3 years old.

There are many orthodontic techniques that can be used to correct crossbites. However, the efficacy will vary based on the type of crossbite and the severity of it. This type of malocclusion should be treated as soon as it is spotted. Therefore, it would not be advisable to wait until all of the permanent dentition has erupted. Various appliances can be used to treat the problem.

To conclude Crossbite is a condition that can lead to serious oral and facial problems if left untreated. This is why it is important to act fast. If you want to learn more reach us @ +91 72593 37591
