🦷 FAILED RCT ≠ EXTRACTION!
A previously treated tooth showing persistent symptoms or a periapical lesion does not automatically mean it has to be extracted.
Before reaching for extraction, ask:
🔎 Why did the RCT fail?
• Missed canal
• Inadequate cleaning & shaping
• Poor obturation
• Coronal leakage
• Procedural errors
• Persistent infection
👉 If the tooth is restorable and the cause of failure can be addressed, non-surgical endodontic retreatment may be a treatment option.
Sometimes the best treatment for a “failed RCT” is not removal of the tooth — it is finding the reason for failure and treating it correctly. 💙
