Most people don’t fear the dentist. They fear the needle.
So I changed how I give it.
Slow delivery. Tissue vibration right next to the injection site — your brain literally can’t process two sensations at once. A tiny deposit shallow, wait, advance. Most patients don’t feel a thing.
For the palate — heavy pressure with the back of a mirror, needle right at that pressure point, blanching before advancing. Patience over speed. Always.
Lower blocks? I aim higher than school taught me. Thumb on the anterior ramus, target the ear. Works better than the textbook every time.
And if a patient still isn’t numb — I stop adding more of the same thing. I think about gate control. Mylohyoid. PDL injection. Intraosseous if needed. More anesthetic in the wrong place is never the answer.
Pain-free dentistry isn’t luck. It’s technique.

Lemon water as a daily habit. Enamel doesn’t grow back, babe.
