On this International Women's Day, I want to celebrate a woman who changed the history of dentistry forever — Lucy Hobbs Taylor.
In the 1800s, when women were not allowed to study dentistry, Lucy Hobbs Taylor refused to accept “no” as her fate. After being rejected by many dental schools simply because she was a woman, she studied privately under a dentist and began practicing.
Her determination finally broke the barriers, and in 1866 she became the first woman in the world to earn a dental degree, graduating from the Ohio College of Dental Surgery.
Her courage didn’t just build a career — it opened doors for generations of women in dentistry.
Today, every woman dentist stands on the path she helped create.
Here’s to resilience, courage, and rewriting history.
🦷✨ Happy Women’s Day to all the women shaping the future of healthcare.
