Good oral hygiene is about more than a clean smile.

Daily brushing and interdental cleaning help control plaque and reduce the risk of:
• Tooth decay
• Gum inflammation
• Periodontal disease
• Bad breath
• Tooth and bone loss

Small daily habits can make a big difference to your oral health. 🦷

🪥 How much toothpaste do you really need?

Using more toothpaste doesn’t mean cleaner teeth.

Here’s the recommended amount:

👶 0–3 years: A rice grain-sized smear on a small children’s toothbrush.

🧒 3–6 years: A pea-sized amount.

🦷 6+ years & adults: A regular pea-sized amount (slightly larger than for younger children is acceptable, but never cover the entire brush).

❌ Never use a full strip of toothpaste.

For most adults and children over 6, a toothpaste containing 1,450 ppm fluoride is considered the optimal strength for cavity prevention.

Remember: It’s your brushing technique and brushing for 2 minutes, not more toothpaste that keep your smile healthy.

🦷 Brush before or after breakfast?

The best time to brush your teeth is before breakfast.

Why?
✨ It removes the plaque and bacteria that build up overnight.
✨ Fluoride from your toothpaste helps protect your enamel before you eat.
✨ Brushing immediately after breakfast—especially if you’ve had coffee, fruit, or juice can increase enamel wear because acids temporarily soften the tooth surface.

If you prefer brushing after breakfast, wait at least 30–60 minutes before brushing. In the meantime, rinse your mouth with water.

A small change to your morning routine can make a big difference to your oral health.

💬 Do you brush before or after breakfast? Let me know in the comments!

Don’t forget to hydrate. 💧

Summer heat can lead to dehydration, and that doesn’t just affect your body—it affects your smile too.

When you’re well hydrated, your body produces more saliva. Saliva is your mouth’s natural defense: it helps wash away food particles, neutralize harmful acids, reduce bad breath, and protect your teeth from decay.

If you’re spending time outdoors or exercising, water should always be your first choice. After prolonged sweating or intense activity, sugar-free electrolytes can also help replenish fluids and minerals.

A simple habit can make a big difference—for your overall health and your oral health.

💙 Stay hydrated. Your smile will thank you.

Electric or regular toothbrush? Which one is better? 🪥

The truth is, both can keep your teeth and gums healthy when used correctly.

An electric toothbrush may be a better choice if you:
• Tend to brush too hard
• Want help removing more plaque
• Have braces or limited hand dexterity
• Prefer a built-in timer for a full 2-minute brush

A regular toothbrush is still an excellent option if:
• You use proper brushing technique
• You brush twice a day for two minutes
• You replace your toothbrush every 3 months (or sooner if the bristles are worn)

✨ The most important factor isn’t the toothbrush itself—it’s how consistently and correctly you use it.

Which one do you use: electric or regular? Let me know in the comments. 👇

Tongue cleaning: the missing step in your dental hygiene routine. 👅✨

Brushing and flossing are essential—but don’t forget your tongue.

Your tongue can harbour bacteria, food debris, and dead cells that contribute to bad breath and affect your overall oral health.

Adding a tongue scraper to your daily routine takes less than a minute and can leave your mouth feeling noticeably fresher.

Small habit. Big difference.

Have you tried tongue cleaning? Let me know in the comments!
