Where do patients draw the line with AI in dentistry?

A recent Humana study highlights an interesting tension as AI becomes more integrated into dental care: patients appear more comfortable with AI supporting administrative tasks than participating in clinical decision-making.

According to the research, 40% of respondents said they were comfortable with AI estimating billing costs.

When it came to confirming diagnoses, 36% were comfortable , while 30% said they were actively uncomfortable with AI being used in this way.

For us at CephX, the interesting question isn’t whether AI belongs in dentistry. It’s how AI should be integrated in a way that supports clinicians while maintaining patient trust.
