This lovely young lady came to our office age 1️⃣1️⃣ with her mum for a consultation.
As always, we start by looking at the FACE and then we examine what’s happening in the mouth.
FACE FIRST is key ✨

How can we improve the facial profile and her bite?
THEN we will address the crowding.
So what did we do?
Bella wore a removable brace to advance her lower jaw when she was growing and to correct her bite for 12 months. You can see the fantastic facial change she achieved with this brace. She was a super patient and her hard work and patience paid off!
Once we were happy with the bite correction and the overjet (gap between her upper and lower teeth) was correct we then carefully planned her extractions.
Extractions were required to make space to align her teeth due to the severe crowding. Upper and lower train track braces were then placed.
If we only used train track braces we could straighten her teeth for sure but her profile and face would not have benefitted. This approach takes a few months longer but it is definitely worth it when you see her gorgeous face ✨

1️⃣ Phase 1: thesis young man’s general dentist referred him to our clinic when he noticed the crossbite. We used our rapid palatal expansion protocol which involves turning a key at home for 4 weeks. During this time you are monitored weekly.
Once the expansion is complete and no more turning at home is required the brace stays in and the patient is monitored regularly.

2️⃣ Phase 2: when all the permanent teeth erupted, the patient and his mum returned. They were keen to proceed with a second phase of treatment. They were familiar with braces as one of his sisters had treatment with fixed train track braces and his other sister had clear aligner treatment. We completed phase 2 using carefully planned clear aligners. Duration: seven months.

Due to the presence of rotated lateral incisors pre-treatment (which have a very high relapse potential) we then placed fixed retainers and clear removable retainers over them.

Aligners are a great tool to improve prominent front teeth, reduce the risk of trauma and long term damage to the teeth.
Children who have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth are ideal for this treatment - between age 8-10.
During this period they are normally very active and adventurous as they are explore everything! Between sport and play, injuries can easily occur and teeth which are not protected by the lips are the most vulnerable.
Short course of active treatment can greatly reduce the risk of injuries to prominent teeth.

Over time broken teeth continue to erupt / move down and the gum margins drop down with them!

This results in a step in the gum margins at the front which must be corrected before the teeth are repaired with composite.

The aim of orthodontic treatment in this case is to correct the bite, correct the midlines and restore the correct gum margins.

When the ortho treatment was completed, the patient was then ready to have his teeth re- shaped and restored back to the original anatomy!

Once the tooth whitening was completed the super talented .ambrish.roshan carried out beautiful anterior composites and restored his smile!

A combined team approach is necessary to achieve these fantastic results.
