Here is another case that Dr Eoin worked on recently.

This patient was having sensitivity whilst flossing so we decided to investigate.

Old white filling is removed.

Caries detector dye to help us clean everything out really nicely and visualise where we are at

Sure enough there is a crack present so this is the most likely source of the discomfort.

Crack is removed/dissected

Tooth restored incrementally to minimise contraction stress. In this case Dr Eoin also placed Ribbond as part of the build up. This will help prevent further cracks forming and reinforce the restoration/tooth hopefully for many years.

In this recent case Dr Eoin found decay in the edges of this patients front teeth. The front teeth had worn down somewhat over time which had allowed decay at the now exposed softer dentine. Now it’s time for some maintenance on them.

- Isolation of the teeth for moisture control
- Decay carefully removed
- Double check our work with caries detector dye
- Air polish for extra clean surface
- Etch/prime/bond
- Composite layered and polished ✅

Here’s a recent case Dr Eoin recently treated
- The greying around this amalgam often indicates decay
- Dr Eoin removed the old amalgam work and indeed there is decay underneath
- Red caries detector dye is used to help ensure margins are nicely cleaned
- This is a deep cavity and is close to the nerve so we clean very carefully
- Now we are fully prepped and the tooth is etched then prime and bond applied. Walls are build up in layers to create the best bond possible. We choose composites which will distribute the chewing forces most favourably
- End result is a well restored tooth which should give many more years function

Daily dentistry - replacement of an amalgam filling

During routine check up Dr Eoin noted some subtle staining around an old amalgam filling. This indicates it is starting to leak.

We wanted to catch this sooner rather than later so that the treatment is less invasive and we have an increased chance of keeping the nerve healthy.

Here Dr Eoin has removed the old amalgam which reveals the decay underneath. Following removal of this decay he places a nice bonded composite to restore the and improve the longevity of the tooth.
