So I’ve learned a lot from other dentists over the years through Instagram. It’s a wealth of information. So I said I add my two cents and hopefully some other dentist will find it helpful!
LL6 with root fracture. Clinically buccal swelling. Hoping to place implant so always looking to keep as much bone as possible. Tried with a cowhorns just to see if I’d get lucky. No chance😂. Clinical crown popped off. Distal root removed intact but the mesial root was split🙈. Distal aspect removed but mesial aspect retained. Root treated teeth are so fragile, got some of the mesial out but root tip retained. Turned to my trusty surgical Handpiece with long shank bur. You’ll also need loupes with a good light to help you see that tip. Removed some bone from the distal aspect of the tip in the furcation and was able to remove the tip with a root pick. Not an easy job but had a great patient which helped. Curette to remove as much granulation tissue as possible. PA to ensure all bits of root out. You can see on the post op PA the mesial bone loss from fracture. Pre op was taken about a year ago. Hope someone finds this helpful!
