🔘 Overbite Correction🦷👄

🔘 Overbite= the vertical overlap of the lower teeth by the upper teeth.
(Notice on the before photo it is difficult to see the lower front teeth)

🔘 Today.. no longer an issue! This patient now has a perfect bite and straight teeth.. with the help of a removable brace, followed by upper and lower fixed appliances.

◾️Case: Deep bite, with overcrowding 🦷
◾️In this particular case, the lower front teeth were ‘locked in’ and short of space, resulting in an overcrowded appearance.

◾️Firstly, Dr. Richard Stokes corrected the depth of the bite with a removable brace. This was followed by fixed braces to straighten the teeth. No extractions were needed.
To finish, a bonded wire retainer was placed to help keep and maintain this correct position, in conjunction with the removable retainers.

◾️Meet the team~ Rebekah Conlon

◾️Rebekah is our excellent dental nurse at Castletroy Orthodontics.
She graduated top of her class from Trinity College Dublin in 2016, and was also award the Dental Council price for best academic achievement! She truely started as she meant to go on!🌟🎓

◾️Rebekah went on to work in all specialities of Dentistry, and thankfully joined us in Castletroy Orthodontics when we opened in 2019.

◾️From then she has been running the show at the front desk, while also nursing and caring for our wonderful patients.

◾️Rebekah is an incredibly valued staff member here at Castletroy Orthodontics, and we would be lost without her!

◼️Meet the team~ Dr. Richard Stokes

◼️Richard is the Specialist Orthodontist at Castletroy Orthodontics.

◼️He completed his Dentistry degree from University College Cork in 2010. He moved to the UK, where he continued to study for a further 6 years and achieved the ‘Nigel Carter Prize’ for achieving a Distinction in his MSc in Orthodontics in 2016. He also attained his membership in Orthodontics from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons, in Edinburgh, in 2016.

◼️Richard enjoys all aspects of orthodontics, from being able to offer a variety of different treatment options to suit a persons needs, to seeing the final results.. and the happy smiling faces!

◼️Richard likes to keep up to date with emerging research and new techniques, which he can apply to his work at Castletroy Orthodontics.

◼️Out of office, Richard is kept busy with his two young boys! But also likes to make the most of his Munster season ticket, and escape to the golf course when he can!!😁

✨We wanted to start the day by showing you an example of how a deep anterior overbite (ie where the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth) and the overcrowding can be corrected, using a removable ‘functional’ appliance followed by fixed braces. (No extractions were required to achieve this great result!)
