Congratulations! Here are our winning entries. We had so many lovely designs to choose from, we went with 7 styles of Christmas cards for 2022. Thank you to all who entered our competition. The prizes for the winning designs are in the post. Dentistry for Kids will be closing for our Christmas holidays on Tuesday 20th of December. We will re-open on Tuesday 3rd of January. In happier news, Dr. Howley gave birth to a baby girl last week. Dr. Tara Kennedy ( a Canadian, board-certified, paediatric dentist) is covering the practice, while Dr. Howley adjusts to being a Mammy of two!

Level 5 update: Dentistry is classed as an essential service and Dentistry for Kids will remain open with all our new protocols and measures, introduced during the previous lockdown. Paddy and Rebecca, at reception, will be happy to discuss these measures before your appointment. If you cannot make your appointment, or would prefer to postpone, please let us know as soon as you can as our waiting list is extensive due to disruptions caused by the pandemic. We attach the Irish Dental Association statement below. We are keeping up to date with all current recommendations and guidelines. Thank you.

There will be lots of new PPE and some new procedures at Dentistry for Kids. The biggest changes are that we are admitting patients one at a time. Our waiting room is closed so patients will be asked to wait outside or in their cars until their appointment time. There will be additional cleaning of door handles and high-touch surfaces between each patient. Extra time has been allotted between appointments to facilitate extra cleaning. Your and your child's temperature will be checked on arrival. You will be asked a series of Covid 19 screening questions on scheduling appointments and on arrival. Please brush your child's teeth before appointments as we are not allowing tooth brushing in the bathrooms at present. We would ask that only 1 parent and the appointed child attend appointments to reduce footfall in the practice. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate through the Covid 19 Pandemic. Looking forward to welcoming you back to the practice.

Thank you to all who entered our "Design our Christmas Card" competition. We were supposed to have only one winning design, but we received so many great entries, we found it too difficult to choose only one design. We have five winning designs this year! All five designs are being used as our Christmas cards for 2019. Congratulations, your Smyths' gift vouchers are in the post! Thank you again to all our patients who took part in our competition. Happy brushing! Teeth should be brushed as soon as they come in - around 6 months of age! In Ireland we recommend no Fluoride toothpaste until age 2. After 2 - use 1450ppm Fluoride toothpaste (you'll find this number on the back of your toothpaste) After brushing, spit all the toothpaste out and don't rinse! Wipe out the toothpaste with a wash cloth if your child can't spit out. Tooth brushing at night is the most important time for brushing. No eating or drinking (except water) after brushing! Food and drinks (even milk) left on teeth at night cause a lot more damage as there is no saliva to wash away the foods! https://youtu.be/xm9c5HAUBpY
