Is your child a mouth breather? 👀🦷

It might seem harmless, but persistent mouth breathing in children is something worth keeping an eye on!

Did you know that breathing through the mouth regularly, rather than the nose, can sometimes be associated with changes in facial growth and dental development?

Here are a few signs to look out for:
✨ Sleeping with their mouth open
✨ Snoring or noisy breathing at night
✨ Dry lips or a dry mouth
✨ Frequently having their mouth open during the day
✨ Difficulty keeping their lips comfortably closed

Why does it matter? Persistent mouth breathing may be linked to sleep difficulties and can influence dental and facial development as a child grows.

If you notice these signs regularly, speak with your child's dentist to investigate the cause. An orthodontic assessment can also help identify any developing dental concerns.

🐶 “Who needs a chew toy when there’s a retainer?” 😂🦷

We’ve heard it all… but yes, sometimes our furry friends decide that a retainer looks like the perfect snack! 😂

Unfortunately, retainers aren’t quite as tasty as they look to your dog, and replacing them can be an unexpected expense. 💸

If your dog has managed to get their paws (or teeth!) on your retainer, don’t panic just give us a call and we’ll let you know the next step.

🐾 Top tip: Always keep your retainer safely in its case and well out of reach of curious pets!

Because the only thing your dog should be chewing is their own toy… not your orthodontic treatment! 🐕🦷
