Why is a healing period necessary after putting in the implant?
Why do I have to wait 3-6 months until the visible part is made?
The implants work as artificial roots and after they have been placed in the bone, the oral surgeon closes the gum so that the implant can heal. During this process, that lasts for months, the titanium screws merge with the bone.
This process gives the implants an incredible stability and is called osseointegration.
The surface treatments of the implants contributes to the success of the osseointegration. The process is faster and the result is an artificial root that is more stable than the origional tooth.
The only solution and formation which is capable to do this is the titanium implant. This is why it is so effective, safe and durable.
If the link between the bone cells and the implant is strong enough, the dentist can start making the visible parts. (crowns, bridges, denture).
