May is Hepatitis Awareness Month.

Hepatitis is a disease causing inflammation of the liver, and there are 3 types;

Hepatitis A – A highly contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus, that causes inflammation and affects liver function, and is transmitted through contaminated food water.

Hepatitis B – A serious infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus, and is transmitted through direct contact.

Hepatitis C – A viral infection that causes inflammation of the liver, and is transmitted through blood contact.

It is of great importance you tell your healthcare professionals if you have a form of hepatitis; including nurses, dentists, doctors, beauticians etc. this information will be kept confidential under the general data protection act and is solely used to provide best possible care for you while acknowledging the risks to others.
