Cavities aren’t caused by sugar alone. They happen when acid attacks your enamel faster than your saliva and fluoride can repair it. Sipping drinks throughout the day, starchy snacks, acidic drinks, dry mouth and missed brushing all play a part.

Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth, reduce snacking and keep sweet treats to mealtimes 🪥😉

Controversial?

Not really! All kids want a sweet treat sometimes! Even ours! 😂

But do you ever find yourself saying “don’t eat them all in one go” or “save some for later”.

It may feel counter productive to let them eat all their sweets in one go, but it’s actually better for their teeth!

The same goes for all other food and drink; every time we eat or drink (other than water) we reset the clock on our saliva doing all the heavy lifting to get our mouths back to a safe pH. It’s not just what you eat, it’s when you eat it. If we are grazing all day our mouths are constantly in an acidic environment, meaning our teeth are at risk of decay.

Airflow is an advanced form of professional dental cleaning that uses a controlled combination of air, warm water and a very fine powder to remove dental biofilm, plaque and surface staining from the teeth.

Rather than relying solely on traditional scaling and polishing, Airflow allows our lovely hygienist team, Alison, Zoe and Sarah, to gently target areas where plaque and staining can accumulate — including around the gum line and in harder-to-reach areas.

If you’ve ever found traditional dental cleaning uncomfortable, particularly if you have sensitive teeth, Airflow can offer a gentler alternative for removing deposits and staining.

Thank you to Charlie for taking the time to talk to us about his experience at The Rock. If you’ve never required much dental work it can be slightly daunting to find out you need treatment for the first time.

We’re committed to making the process as easy and relaxed as we can for all of our patients.

If you’re anxious about visiting the dentist please feel free to call and arrange a chat with one of our friendly team and we will do our best to make you feel comfortable.
