Okay, I might have been a bit dramatic when filming this. Implants can last for a long time. Decades, but most people will be completely unaware that they can fail.

Of course there are things that we can do to minimise these long term failures, but these are not always done.

Dental implants are just a solution for a problem that I hope no one would ever face. It's a really good solution. But it's not perfect.

I have this conversation a LOT! Many of our patients feel that their situation is so bad that the only option is to remove all the teeth and have dental implants.

Maintaining your own teeth has many advantages in some cases, and many of our patients prefer to keep their teeth, if we can make them look nice.

Pulling teeth out is easy, anyone can take teeth out and put implants in and give someone a set of teeth.

But sometimes there are other great options, where we have all of the advantages of keeping natural teeth.

I am glad he went with one of those options 😁

"Nice smile" does NOT mean the same thing for everyone. We have to really listen to our patients, ask them dumb questions, so we truly get under the skin of the problem, only then can we offer a solution, or a treatment that will get them to their ideal smile as quickly and easily as possible.

Having anything at top quality is expensive, but lowering the cost of treatments can make them more accessible, so more people can benefit.

There is a way to strike a balance, there are some places where a compromise isn't a bad thing.

Just because we do a lot of dental implants, it doesn't mean that we forget about the other possible solutions.

The goal is for our patients to have the confidence of a great smile, no matter how we get there.

By the way, we are not doing a denture here because of cost, she can afford dental implants, it's just not the right treatment for her.
