This new before and after smile comes from our Liverpool practice, where treatment was carried out by Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Puthri Raphy and Orthodontic Therapist, Beth.

Let’s look at what was going on🔍
📍Crossbite affecting most of her back teeth
📍The upper arch was narrow
📍Impacted upper left canine tooth

What is a crossbite❔
A crossbite is a type of bite problem where some of your upper teeth sit inside your lower teeth when you close your mouth — instead of sitting slightly outside them as they normally should.

Why do canines get stuck❔
🔺Lack of space in the dental arch
🔺Baby tooth not falling out in time
🔺The canine developing in the wrong direction
🔺Crowding of nearby teeth
🔺Genetics

What do we need to bring this tooth down❔
📍It needs to be exposed by an oral surgeon
📍If this tooth is too high, then a gold chain is placed
📍If it is low, then the gum covering the tooth can be removed to see the tooth in the palate - bringing these teeth down takes time and expertise of an experienced Specialist Orthodontist.

What did we do ❔
➡️ Open exposure of the upper left canine and removal of the baby canine tooth
➡️Upper and lower fixed metal braces
➡️ Expander to widen the upper arch
⛔️No adult teeth extractions
⏩️Retainers for life to maintain the final position of the teeth

✨ Creating healthy, confident smiles ✨

This amazing result is a great example of how orthodontic treatment can improve both smile alignment and bite function ✨

When this adult patient first came to our Ormskirk practice, her main concern was the appearance of crooked teeth. Following assessment, Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Andrew Hunter identified a complex Class 3 bite, with edge-to-edge front teeth, anterior crossbites and a limited overbite.

Her treatment plan included fixed upper and lower metal braces, along with the extraction of four premolars to create the space needed for alignment. Treatment was carried out with the support of Orthodontic Therapist, Larna.

⭐ Throughout treatment, the patient was incredibly dedicated
⭐ Excellent oral hygiene was maintained from start to finish
⭐ The final result achieved a healthier bite and beautifully aligned smile

She now has removable and bonded retainers to help maintain her new smile for years to come 😊

This lovely patient came to us at our Warrington practice concerned about her protruding front teeth, alongside severe crowding in the upper arch and moderate crowding in the lower arch. Her upper centre line was also shifted by 2mm to the left.

With a carefully tailored treatment plan created by Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Aoife Monk, alongside the support of our Orthodontic Therapist, Maria, treatment involved fixed upper and lower braces with four extractions to create the space needed for a healthy, balanced smile.

This patient showed incredible commitment throughout her journey — attending appointments, following advice, and trusting the process every step of the way 👏

Now, her smile is beautifully aligned, her bite is improved, and she’s completed treatment with removable retainers to help maintain her fantastic result for years to come.

💛CHALLENGE💛

This challenging before and after comes from our Widnes practice, where treatment was carried out by Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Raphy Paul and Orthodontic Therapist, Natalie 🤍

This young girl attended our practice with her mum saying she had two rows of teeth. This case was very challenging and there was a lot going on.

What were the problems❔
📍Impacted canine (in the line of the arch)
📍Severe crowding with completely lingually placed LL2, LR2 (lower incisor teeth) and palatally placed UL2 (upper left lateral incisor)
📍Very deep bite (vertical overlap of upper teeth to lower teeth)
📍Both midlines way off by 5mm to the left of the face

What did we do❔
✅Mini screws to anchor in the upper and lower jaw
✅Fixed braces
✅Extraction of one premolar on each side of the arches
⏩Retainers now at night to keep these teeth in the best position

This case shows how important it is to carefully plan and execute the treatment💪🏻
