A little test of my wire-bending skills to upright a mesioangularly impacted second molar. 0.020 stainless steel, hooked onto a 19/25 steel main archwire. I added bit of powerchain from the mesial part of the auxiliary to the first molar to a) help keep it in situ and b) distalise the tooth to aid disimpaction
Would you do it differently?

We’re going green!
Recycle your clear aligners (Invisalign, Angel or any other brand), packets, old retainers and retainer boxes in our recycling bin.

Clear aligner treatment produces a lot of single use plastic but with our recycling box from we can collect them and send them for recycling. Just bring them back at the end of your treatment and we’ll do the rest.

This is a perfect example of how I can tailor treatment to suit the patient.

When I first saw Amelia she was a very reluctant teenager who hated her teeth but was adamant she didn’t want to wear fixed braces. We talked through the things she was concerned about and agreed to use a removable braces with some springs to push the top teeth forward. This was barely visible from the front and acceptable to Amelia.

The top teeth improved a lot but I knew I could get a better result with a fixed brace, so after some gentle encouragement she agreed to a fixed brace for a few months for just the top teeth and this is the final result. It may not be perfect but it dramatically improved Amelia’s smile in a way that was agreeable to her and I’m pleased to say her confidence has improved and she can now show off her new smile. I expect it to look better after a while as the gumlines settle.

Never be afraid to let me know your concerns and ask ‘is there another way?’ or if I can treat in small steps. It’s not always possible but let’s have that discussion

‘How long will my teeth stay straight?’

It’s a pretty common question and the answer is ‘I don’t know’. There are no guarantees as teeth like to move, even years after orthodontic treatment, and also if you’ve never had braces.

BUT, if you wear your retainers regularly and look after your dental health you will be less likely to experience movement. This adult patient was treated by me 16 years ago! The top photos is the final result and the bottom photos is 16 years later when he came for a minor retainer repair. The teeth even look better after some tooth whitening.

So think of your retainers and even more important than the braces, carry on wearing them, and your result could last many years.

We also make it easy to get replacement retainers by working with , once you’ve had your final scan you can just order replacements online.
