How often do I need dental X-rays?
It’s a great question—and the answer isn’t the same for everyone.
For most patients, dental X-rays are recommended every 1–2 years as part of a routine check-up. However, the frequency depends on your individual needs. If you have a history of dental problems, gum disease, or are undergoing treatment, you may need them more often. If your oral health is stable and low-risk, you may need them less frequently.
X-rays help us spot issues you can’t see or feel—like decay between teeth, infections, or bone loss—so we can treat problems early and keep your smile healthy.
At Shine Dental Twyford, we only take X-rays when clinically necessary, following strict safety guidelines to keep radiation exposure as low as possible.
If you’re unsure when your last X-ray was, just ask at your next visit—we’re always happy to help
