Some medications can reduce saliva flow, which may increase the risk of tooth decay and other oral health problems 🦷

Saliva plays an important role in maintaining a healthy mouth. As well as keeping your mouth comfortable, it helps wash away food debris, neutralise acids produced by plaque bacteria, and supports the natural remineralisation of tooth enamel.

When saliva flow is reduced, these protective effects are less effective. This can increase the risk of tooth decay and may also contribute to bad breath, oral soreness, and changes in taste 🤕

Reduced saliva flow (dry mouth) can occur for a variety of reasons, including as a side effect of some medications 💊

If you regularly experience a dry mouth, it’s worth mentioning it to your dentist, as there may be simple steps to help protect your oral health 👩‍⚕️

Another great CEREC crown restoration! 🤩

This tooth had a large fracture and had previously been successfully treated with root canal treatment, allowing the tooth to be retained rather than extracted 🦷

Following root canal treatment, a crown is often recommended to help protect and support the remaining tooth structure, particularly when there has been significant damage or loss of tooth tissue.

Using our CEREC same-day technology, we designed and fitted a custom ceramic crown in a single appointment, restoring both function and aesthetics ✨

A great result that helps preserve and protect the tooth while blending naturally with the surrounding smile 😁

Yesterday, we had a great view of the Freedom of the Town Parade as it made its way through Thatcham. It was lovely to see the community come together to mark such a special occasion and celebrate a tradition that remains an important part of local life.

Plaque can begin forming on your teeth within just a few hours after brushing 🪥

Plaque is a soft, sticky film of bacteria that naturally forms in the mouth throughout the day. If it isn’t removed regularly, it can harden into tartar (dental calculus), which cannot be removed by brushing and usually requires a professional dental clean 👩‍⚕️

That’s why consistent oral hygiene is key. Brushing twice daily helps regularly remove and disrupt this build-up before it can lead to tooth decay and gum disease 🦷
