Dental Hygienist (Employed) – Perio-Focused Private Practice, Tewkesbury (1 to 3 days)
£35 to £38 an hour · Employed · Full nursing support · Proper appointment times
We are a calm, independent private practice in the centre of Tewkesbury, and we are looking for an employed hygienist who takes periodontal health seriously and wants the time to do it properly. The hygiene diary is being rebuilt from scratch, so you would have a real say in how it is set up.

Who we are
We have been here since 1997, and a good number of our patients have been with us for more than thirty years. We are not a high-volume practice and have no wish to become one. Treatment is planned properly, done properly and checked properly, and that includes the hygiene chair.
The hygiene role we want to build
This is not a scale-and-polish list. We want somebody who assesses properly, explains clearly, builds a real relationship with each patient, plans active periodontal treatment and then sees the maintenance through. If perio is the part of the job you find most interesting rather than the part you get through, we should talk.
You would help decide how long a perio appointment gets and how recall and maintenance are structured. If you have worked somewhere that books thirty minutes and expects you to make it work in twenty, this will feel different, and that is deliberate. We would rather see fewer patients well than more patients quickly.
What matters to us
The patient’s needs come before our own. That shows up in staying the extra five minutes when somebody needs it, noticing what nobody asked you to notice, and assuming the better side of people, patients and colleagues alike.
Worth knowing before you apply
We are a small team, so everyone knows everyone, which is lovely on a good day and means there is nowhere to hide on a hard one. We are also writing down how the practice runs at the moment, so you would be joining while standards are being agreed rather than assumed, which some people really enjoy.
We are hoping for years rather than months, and we will give the hygiene side real investment and a real voice in return. People come to us from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester, Evesham and the villages between, and none of that is too far, as long as it is a journey you will still be happy with on a wet Monday in February.
If you can only do certain days, or want to start small and build up, tell us rather than passing on it.
How to apply
Apply through Indeed with your CV, or email it to [email protected]. If you can, add a few lines telling us about a time you went further for a patient than you strictly had to, and where you would like to be in three years. We read those properly and they count for more than the CV.
We will come back to you within two working days. If it looks like a good fit, we will invite you in for a conversation that same week. Before we appoint, there is a paid clinical session so you can see how we work and we can see how you work. It goes both ways, and we would rather tell you now than surprise you with it.
