Many people aren’t aware of the fact that most of the germs that cause bad breath live on the tongue. That means the tongue needs to be brushed too. So even those who are brushing their teeth twice a day can still have bad breath if they aren’t dedicating a bit of their brushing time to their tongues!

We would like to introduce our newest member of the team, Megan! 🎉

Megan is a trainee dental nurse who joined the practice at the beginning of July. She is working closely with our dental implant surgeon, Dr McVeigh, and our hygienists, Jenni and Emma. Megan has enjoyed meeting our patients so far and is looking forward to progressing her role within the practice! 🦷

This year, we have been fortunate enough to have access to a Community Fund of £500 to donate to a good cause in the local area. The team were given the task of choosing and Flo, our receptionist, suggested TASS as they had provided such wonderful support to some of her family and close friends. This was followed with great support from the team and during the discussion we found that nearly everyone in the practice has a connection to TASS and the fantastic work they do. Charities like TASS are such an asset to the community and it is wonderful to be able to support them to grow and succeed in their work.
TASS is a very well-known organization in the area and I was aware that they supported local people with various activities and transport services. It was not until I met Holly and Jackie that I fully understood how much of an impact the organization has on the community. TASS run a wide range of classes, activities and services for many groups in the area, but most importantly they are a very kind and attentive group of people.
We are all very grateful for TASS and the work they do with their teams of unpaid volunteers, helping and supporting those closest to us. It is an absolute privilege to be associated with the TASS Team.
Abbey Mead Dental & Implant Clinic was originally founded by Paddy McVeigh and Ann Cummins in the 1990s and very quickly became a thriving practice in the heart of Tavistock.
Since the founding, the team have been focused on being a part of the community. Wherever possible we support local businesses and use local dental technicians such as Tim at TPR Dental Prosthetics. We are also working on projects with local schools to raise awareness and highlight opportunities with young people to further their training and development. Our Trainee Dental Nurse course is a brilliant opening for young people to launch themselves into a fulfilling career in dentistry and opens many doors.
