Mission Get Mike On A Bike!

To our lovely Patients,
In February 2026, our founder Mike Hesketh will be taking a week off his duties at Dartmoor Dental to join a group of intrepid cyclists and dental leaders on an incredible journey from the base of Kilimanjaro to the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania to raise vital funds for the charity called Bridge2aid.
All the money raised will go towards running a dental outreach/training programme in March 2026, where access to dental care for local people is extremely limited.
Unfortunately in Tanzania, millions of children and adults are in dental pain and at risk of death from preventable dental disease, some even walk up to five days just to get a tooth extracted.
With so few dentists available, training local healthcare workers is one of the most powerful and sustainable ways to transform access to care. The programme Mike is raising money for, will directly help thousands of people in pain, and the skills taught will continue to benefit communities for years to come.
The ride itself will be tough – 30-degree heat, dirt tracks, and surrounded by Tanzania’s wildlife, but every mile will be worth it, knowing the difference it will make.
Miike has never fundraised before, but as some of you may already know, he does have a history of providing dentistry both in the high veld in South Africa as a student and with the Royal Marine Commandos in Congo and Sierra Leone. As Mike quoted “I was somewhat slimmer and a lot fitter back then, so i will really need all the support I can!” 🤪🚴🦓🦁🥵
All volunteers (including Mike) self-fund the trip so every penny goes towards this module.
