September often feels like a reset. The summer holidays are coming to an end, routines are starting to fall back into place, and the diary is looking a little more organised again.

For some patients, walking through the door can be the hardest part.

We know that dental anxiety can make it difficult to even book an appointment, let alone feel comfortable once you’re here. That’s why we take the time to listen, explain things clearly and never make you feel rushed or judged.

Wojciech came to us after experiencing problems with an implant he had previously had fitted in Poland. The implant was failing, and he needed help to understand what could be done to improve and stabilise the situation.

Together with Pratik, he explored his options and underwent treatment to repair and stabilise the existing work, with the aim of preserving what was possible rather than starting again.

Wojciech was very happy with the result and the care he received throughout his treatment.

This is just a small glimpse into Wojciech’s story. We’ll be sharing more of his journey, along with other real patient case studies, very soon.

We’re very pleased to welcome Bal Nandra to the team!

Bal qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental School in 2008 and has since built extensive experience across consultant-led hospital departments over the years.

He has developed a particular interest in Endodontology (root canal treatment), completing an MSc in Endodontics with Merit and achieving a distinction in his final dissertation.

Bal will be providing expert endodontic care at the practice, both for our own patients and for patients referred to us by other practices in the region. He has a particular interest in complex root canal treatments and takes a calm, careful and evidence-based approach to treatment.

Just as importantly, Bal is known for his gentle and reassuring manner, with considerable experience caring for nervous and anxious patients. His focus is always on making patients feel comfortable while providing the highest standard of care.

We’re delighted to have his experience and expertise as part of our team and look forward to introducing him to our patients.

We’re looking for another dentist to join our team!

As our practice continues to grow, we're keen to find someone who shares the same approach to high quality dentistry and patient care that we have here at Swindon Dental & Implant Clinic.

We’re a small, family-run practice and I’m really proud of the team we’ve built. We’ve put a lot of thought into making sure the practice runs well, with a supportive team and an environment where everyone knows what they’re doing so that we can focus on looking after our patients.

Clinically, there is a great range of skill and experience within the practice. We have an excellent hygienist, a dentist with special interest in endodontics, an associate providing general dentistry whilst I provide complex restorative and implant care both for our own patients and on a referral basis.

Our surgeries are purpose designed with modern equipment and technology throughout, and we give our dentists the clinical freedom to provide the dentistry they feel is right for their patients.

For us, choosing the right dentist to join the practice is really important. We want someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, is kind and approachable with patients and genuinely enjoys being part of a team.

The role is primarily general dentistry, with a growing patient list and the opportunity to expand with the practice. There is also the opportunity to develop an interest in implants if that is something you would like to explore, and I’m very happy to mentor the right person.

We’re based at Edison Park in Swindon, just a few minutes from J15 of the M4, with free parking on site.

We know that coming to the dentist can sometimes come with a lot of worry, especially if you’ve been putting off treatment or haven’t visited for a while.

But there’s no need to feel embarrassed, nervous or worried about being judged. Whatever your situation, we listen and we don’t judge. It’s something we’ve always believed in, long before it became a trend.

We don’t just want to tell you what’s happening; we want to show you.

Our intraoral scanner allows us to create a detailed digital scan of your teeth and gums, without the need for traditional impressions.

But technology isn’t the only part of the process. We take the time to talk you through what we’re doing, explain what we’re looking at and answer any questions along the way, so you understand exactly what’s happening.

We believe patients should feel informed and involved in their dental care, rather than simply sitting back while treatment happens around them.

Let’s be honest, most of us enjoy a sweet treat from time to time.

The good news is that looking after your teeth doesn’t mean you have to avoid sugar completely. It’s about being mindful of when and how often you’re having it.

Where possible, try to keep sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes rather than snacking throughout the day. Afterwards, a simple rinse with water can help wash away some of the sugars and acids and allow your mouth to return to its normal balance.

It won’t undo the effects of sugar entirely, but it’s a small habit that can help protect your teeth over time.
