** Triage system**

We will be operating a new triage system from 1st September 2026.
If you have a dental emergency, please call the practice Monday - Friday between 8:30am - 10:00am.
Your details and a description of your problem will be taken by our reception staff, and you will be added to the list for the dentist to triage.
Patients will be prioritised according to urgency, and a member of staff will contact you.

To help us find the correct records and keep appointments running smoothly, we kindly ask all NHS patients to have their NHS number available when booking or attending an appointment.

Unfortunately, without an NHS number, we may not be able to provide an NHS appointment, so it's important to have this information ready before contacting the practice.

Don't know your NHS number? Don't worry – it's quick and easy to find! You can access it through the NHS App, online via the NHS website, or on previous NHS letters, prescriptions, or appointment reminders.

Taking a few minutes to find your NHS number now could save delays later and help us get you seen as quickly as possible. 😊

Penclawdd Dental Practice is looking for a friendly, organised and reliable receptionist to join our team three days a week – Monday, Thursday and Friday. This is a key front-of-house role, perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent patient care. Dental experience is a bonus but not essential – attitude, warmth and professionalism are what matter most. ⚠️ Got a Cold Sore? Let’s Keep Everyone Safe!

If you’ve got an active cold sore, it’s best to postpone your dental appointment – and here’s why:

🦠 Cold Sores are Highly Contagious:
Cold sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1), which spreads easily. Coming in for an appointment can increase the risk of passing the virus to our staff or other patients.
💨 Aerosols Spread the Virus:
Many dental treatments create aerosols (tiny water particles in the air), which can carry the virus further than you think, putting others at risk.
🧼 Surface Survival:
Did you know HSV-1 can live on surfaces and our dental instruments long enough to infect others? Even with our strict cleaning and sterilization protocols, this makes managing the virus a real challenge.
⚠️ Risk to You:
Dental treatments while you have an active cold sore can spread the infection to other areas of your face – which we all want to avoid!

While our team is fully trained in infection control and follows strict hygiene measures, we’d rather reduce the risk altogether. That’s why we kindly ask you to reschedule if you have a cold sore.

Your safety – and the safety of everyone in the practice – comes first.

For all of our patients attending appointments in the practice between Monday 29th July and Friday 2nd August, just a polite notice to give yourself a little extra travelling time due to the roadworks on the B4295 (Road between Gowerton and Penclawdd)
