⚠️ Got a Cold Sore? Let’s Keep Everyone Safe!

If you’ve got an active cold sore, it’s best to postpone your dental appointment – and here’s why:

🦠 Cold Sores are Highly Contagious:
Cold sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1), which spreads easily. Coming in for an appointment can increase the risk of passing the virus to our staff or other patients.
💨 Aerosols Spread the Virus:
Many dental treatments create aerosols (tiny water particles in the air), which can carry the virus further than you think, putting others at risk.
🧼 Surface Survival:
Did you know HSV-1 can live on surfaces and our dental instruments long enough to infect others? Even with our strict cleaning and sterilization protocols, this makes managing the virus a real challenge.
⚠️ Risk to You:
Dental treatments while you have an active cold sore can spread the infection to other areas of your face – which we all want to avoid!

While our team is fully trained in infection control and follows strict hygiene measures, we’d rather reduce the risk altogether. That’s why we kindly ask you to reschedule if you have a cold sore.

Your safety – and the safety of everyone in the practice – comes first.

We're looking for:
Qualified/Trainee Dental Nurse:
Experience is desirable but not essential as an extensive training program can be provided via Learn-Kit as well as in-depth in-practice guidance.
Duties will include:
• Assisting each Dentist and our Dental Therapist in all aspects of Dentistry to a high standard by following our practice policies and procedures.
• Working well as a team and supporting your colleagues within our busy practice environment.
• Providing administrative support.
• Carrying out decontamination of equipment and surgeries

Receptionist:
We're looking for a friendly and organized individual with exceptional customer service skills. This is a part-time position, where you will play a crucial role in providing a positive experience for our patients, experience is required.

Duties will include:
• Greeting and checking in patients upon their arrival
• Scheduling appointments and managing the dental practice's calendar
• Answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries
• Handling administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining patient records
• Maintaining a clean and organized reception area

Merry Christmas.. a Nadolig Llawen! From us all here at Penclawdd Dental Practice! 🎄

This year we close for the festive period on Friday December 22nd, but there's no need to worry! 😄 We are open for Emergencies between Christmas Day and New year on the 27th, 28th (8.30am-5pm) and 29th (8:30am-2pm).

If you are in pain, outside of these hours, never fear! 🙋🏼‍♀️ If you are an NHS patient with us, call the 111 NHS non-emergency helpline. They will triage and refer you to an open practice for treatment if necessary.
If you are a Private or Practice Plan patient with us, call the practice on 01792 850223, follow the instructions on the answering machine and you will be redirected to an available member of staff for assessment and advice, and refered to an emergency dentist for treatment if necessary!

We will resume business as usual on January 2nd 2024! See you soon! 🫶🏻
