Whiter teeth, without the guesswork.

Our whitening is done with trays made to fit your own teeth, using gel we supply and show you how to use. You do it at home at your own pace, and we check the shade with you as you go.

Most people get the result they're after in about two weeks, though some cases take longer. The effect lasts around a year, and topping up with your trays once a month keeps it there.

Two honest things worth saying. It only lightens natural teeth, so it won't change the colour of any fillings, crowns, veneers or bridges. And some people find their teeth feel sensitive during treatment and for a few days afterwards, which settles down.

We are really pleased to welcome Dr Alison Warneken to Measham Dental as a visiting dentist with a special interest in endodontics (better known as root canal treatment).

Alison graduated from Birmingham University in 1993 and spent ten years as a dentist in the Royal Navy, working across the UK and overseas. Endodontics caught her interest early on, and she has focused on it ever since, taking referral work at a cosmetic practice in Stoke and a large implant, orthodontic and restorative practice in Nottingham. So she is a very experienced professional in this area.

She was awarded a Diploma in Endodontics with distinction from Chester University in 2012, followed by a Master's in Endodontics with merit in 2016. She has since trained in apical microsurgery in London.

She’s a full member of the British Endodontic Society and the British Dental Association. Alison believes strongly in a preventive approach to dentistry.

We are so pleased to have her join our team and know she will be a brilliant addition in how we can support our patients. If you've been in to see us over the last ten years, you'll know Erica.

What you might not know is that a few years ago she became a patient as well as a member of the team.

Erica had a bite that meant she couldn't chew properly. She'd been told a long time ago that it was just something she would have to live with, and she'd believed it.

In this video she talks about what changed her mind, and about the part of the process that surprised her most. Before any treatment starts, a 3D scan shows you how your own teeth are going to move and what the result should look like. As Erica puts it, the old way meant putting your faith in the dentist and hoping.

She also says something we hear a lot, particularly from older patients: "I was told nothing could be done with my teeth."

That isn't always true, and it's worth finding out. Invisalign isn't right for everyone, and a consultation is the only way to know. Ours is free and includes the 3D scan, so you can see what's possible before committing to anything.

Where in the world is Measham Dental? (did you see what we did there! 😉). Wherever you are travelling from, Measham Dental is close to the M42 (between Junctions 11 and 12). With Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Burton are all within 30 minutes by car. Tamworth is just 15 minutes away.

And when you get here, there's free parking at the practice, a Tesco Express directly across the road and the pharmacy two minutes up the road.

Please give a warm 'Measham' welcome to Isobel, the newest member of our dental nursing team.

Isobel joins us as a Apprentice Dental Nurse who has some previous experience of dental nursing, and healthcare and dentistry have been an interest of hers for a long time. So it's fair to say she's exactly where she wants to be.

In her own words: "It's a job I thoroughly enjoy and hope to make my long-term career, and have a positive impact on people's experiences within dentistry."

That's precisely the kind of nurse we like to have looking after you. Someone who genuinely cares about our patients, whether your visit goes well, and not just whether the instruments are in the right order!

Outside the practice, you'll usually find Isobel spending time with family and friends.

We're open as normal all month, through the school holidays. If you're heading away and something goes wrong with a tooth while you're gone, ring us anyway . We can often sort out advice, helpful practical suggestions or an appointment for the day you get back.

And if the summer has quietly eaten the check-up you meant to book in July and August, we do have appointments. We will make sure we can fit you in.

Chipped tooth? Small gap? Teeth that have worn down over the years?

Composite bonding is usually the gentlest way to fix it. Our great dentist Sara, explains why in this video: the composite is shaped onto your own tooth by hand, so in most cases there's no drilling and no injection, and the tooth underneath is left intact. That's why we'll often suggest it ahead of crowns or veneers.

Most cases are finished in one appointment.
