This week we said goodbye to our cover nurse, Saiyema, who has been an enormous help to us while our other nurses were away on maternity leave.

Any guesses what this is...? 👀

If you said a super snazzy scanner... you'd be right!

This is a CBCT scanner – a specialised 3D imaging system that captures highly detailed images to create a precise digital view of your teeth, jawbones, nerves, and surrounding structures.

CBCT scans are particularly useful for treatments such as dental implants, root canal therapy, and orthodontics, where a traditional X-ray may not provide enough detail for accurate planning and safe and effective treatment.

We're in the process of having one installed at the practice, allowing us to provide even more advanced care for our patients in-house.

Did you know that retainers are for life, not just for treatment?! ✨

A very common reason why adults need braces for a second time is because they stopped wearing their retainers after orthodontic treatment as a child.

This is because teeth naturally move throughout life, even years after braces and, without retainers, teeth can gradually shift back towards their original positions.

This movement can be minimised by wearing either:
🦷 A fixed retainer bonded behind the teeth
🦷 A removable retainer worn every night

Last week we took our annual CPR, AED and medical emergencies training with Worksafe Training ! 🫀🚑

While we hope we never need to use these skills, keeping our training up to date is an essential part of providing safe care for our patients. From practising CPR to refreshing our knowledge of medical emergencies and the use of our defibrillator (AED), the day helped ensure we’re always prepared to respond should the unexpected happen.
