At the weekend, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a second national lockdown due to the rising number of cases of Covid-19. Sunbury Dental Practice will remain open during this period. There are currently no restrictions with regards to medical treatments and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. At Sunbury Dental Practice we have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will continue to follow our high standards in cross infection control.

What next?
Please continue to attend your appointments unless otherwise notified from us. We have excellent infection control procedures along with a robust triaging policy to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.

If you are worried about your attendance please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment until a later date.

When you arrive:
We advise that you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional. We will continue to check your temperature and if this is above 37.8C or if your have any coronavirus symptoms, you will be advised to rebook your treatment and to follow government guidelines. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines - we are unable to seat you in the reception area and you will need to wait outside or in your car in the car park.

As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfect your hands.

The treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient.

Please do not be concerned as we continue to maintain high standards of cross infection control.

Stay safe and please contact us if you have any questions.

🍻 It’s National Beer Day! But, how does alcohol affect your oral heath? 🍻

• Alcohol consumption is a huge risk factor for oral cancer - drinking over the recommended limit of 14 units a week significantly increases this risk.

• Beer and other alcohol, such as white wine and cider, are highly acidic. This can cause dental erosion of the enamel on your teeth and can eventually lead to sensitivity.

• Alcoholic drinks cause the mouth to become dry which, in turn, increases build up of dental plaque and decay.

• Similarly, pre-mixed drinks, such as alcopops, are also extremely high in sugar and can lead to dental decay.

• Further, dark beer contains barley, which is also known to stain your teeth.

It is therefore crucial to visit your dentist for regular check-ups where they can screen for oral cancers and check for any erosion and/or decay.
