What happens at my first appointment? 💬

We know starting orthodontic treatment can feel a little daunting, so here’s what you can expect at your very first visit, to help put you at ease 😊

First, you’ll have a full orthodontic assessment. The orthodontist will check things like your oral hygiene, spacing, which teeth are present, and your bite, along with a few other important factors, if you’re on the NHS, you’ll also be given an IOTN score, which determines whether you qualify for NHS treatment. 🦷

Once your assessment is complete, we may take a panoramic X-ray (a full-mouth image), so please come prepared and remove any head or neck jewellery beforehand 📸

For NHS patients, the next steps usually include photos, a 3D iTero scan, and signing consent forms to confirm your treatment plan.

If you’re a private patient, you’ll have some dedicated time with our Treatment Coordinator, Sophie, who will talk you through costs, payment options, and the different types of braces available. From there, you can choose to go ahead or take some time to think about your options, no pressure here! 💙
