Have you ever heard of rubber dam?! 😲
What is Rubber dam and why do we use it ?
Rubber dam - also referred to as dental dam - is a latex-free, thin piece of plastic that dentists use to isolate teeth when doing a filling or root canal. It helps the dentist see the tooth better, access it with the drill and most importantly, get the best possible result!
It can look pretty daunting 😰 BUT we always ensure it’s comfortable for the patient. In fact, some patients even prefer it because it prevents water from pooling at the back of their throat and prevents them from getting their tongue too close to the drill.
Also for patients who have a strong gag reflex this works well for them helping them relax while getting their treatment.
