🔥 It’s been a busy week at Oakley Road! 🔥

Staff meetings, courses for Mel, and fire safety training… as well as working hard for our patients, we’ve been non-stop! 💪

At Oakley Road, we like to get hands-on with our training, so out came the fire extinguishers and we got practising! 🧯

Of course, we take fire safety VERY seriously… but that doesn’t mean we can’t inject a little humour along the way! Sorry about the pun! 😂

Last Saturday, some of our Oakley Road team headed to London for the Dental Showcase, visiting the Sensodyne stand and exploring the latest innovations in dentistry.

🪥🚨 TOOTHBRUSH TESTING SERIES — EPISODE 5! 🚨🦷

COLOURFUL, QUIRKY & READY FOR INVESTIGATION! 🌈😂

Mel is back in the chair, and this week we’re putting the Curaprox Soft Manual Toothbrush under the Oakley Road Dental spotlight! 👀🔎

So, what’s Mel’s verdict? Let’s find out! 👇

🌈 COLOUR ME HAPPY!
We love the quirky range of colours — who says a toothbrush has to be boring?!

🧢 A LID WITH A PURPOSE!
One of Mel’s favourite features is the protective lid! It’s great for travelling and helps keep the brush head covered from bathroom aerosols when not in use.

🪥 SOFT & GENTLE
Lovely soft bristles and a nice feel when brushing!

♻️ WHAT ABOUT THE PLASTIC?
Compared with the Sensodyne manual toothbrush we tested last week, this one appears to use more plastic — something worth considering if reducing plastic is important to you.

👄 THE CLEAN FEEL TEST!
Although Mel liked the feel of the brush, at times her mouth didn’t feel quite as clean as she wanted, so she had to revisit a few areas.

🏆 MEL’S OVERALL VERDICT?

A VERY GOOD TOOTHBRUSH! 👍

But… if she had to choose between this one and last week’s Sensodyne? 👀

Sensodyne is still Mel’s favourite… for now! 😂🪥

Remember, everyone’s mouth is different, and the best toothbrush is one that allows you to clean effectively and comfortably with the right technique.

We sell Curaprox toothbrushes at Oakley Road Dental because we recommend them for patients who don’t like using an electric toothbrush or who tend to overbrush. We also recommend this toothbrush for patients with very sensitive gums and teeth, as it helps them achieve a gentler brushing technique. 😁

🪥🚨 TOOTHBRUSH TESTING SERIES — EPISODE 4! 🚨🦷

AND WE’RE OFF! 😂

It’s finally time for our first toothbrush investigation… and Mel’s first one is the Sensodyne Manual Toothbrush! 👀🪥

So, what did our dentist think?

👍 MEL GIVES IT THE THUMBS UP!

Here’s what we found…

♻️ Less plastic — we liked the reduction in plastic in both the packaging and the brush itself.

🪥 Soft bristles — these are soft and gentle, making this a great option for people who experience sensitivity.

👄 Fresh & clean — Mel’s mouth felt really clean after using it!

🤏 Handle size — the handle is slightly smaller, so this could be something to consider if you find gripping a toothbrush difficult.

⚠️ BUT… don’t over-brush!
Those soft bristles are doing their job, so there’s no need to scrub away! Gentle and effective is the name of the game. 😉

🏆 OVERALL VERDICT: A good manual toothbrush that gets a thumbs up from Mel! 👍🦷

But this is only TOOTHBRUSH NUMBER ONE… 👀

We’ve got plenty more to investigate!

🪥❤️ THE OAKLEY ROAD TOOTHBRUSH COUPLE! ❤️🪥

Remember Beth from last week? She went home with her free Oral-B iO brush head and her trusty orange EasyPiks after we helped her change her brushing technique. 🧡

Well… Beth went home and told her fiancé, who is also a patient here at Oakley Road, how fabulous she thought the Oral-B iO5 was! 👀🪥

And what did they do?

They went out and bought MATCHING Oral-B iO5s! 😂❤️

Now they’ve both been religiously using their new electric toothbrushes and they’re already telling us they can feel the difference! 🙌

And honestly… we couldn’t be prouder! 🥹🦷

It’s exactly what we want — helping our patients understand their oral health, making small changes and finding products and techniques that work for them. ❤️

Who knew a free toothbrush head could lead to a matching toothbrush purchase for two?! 😂

Mel is STILL in the chair… but now we’re getting down to business! 😂👀

The BPE measurements are done, we’ve had a good look at Mel’s mouth and now it’s time to start the BIG TOOTHBRUSH INVESTIGATION! 🪥🔎

We’re putting different toothbrushes under the spotlight — electric AND manual — and taking a proper look at what they actually offer.

Because let’s face it… there are SO many toothbrushes to choose from! 😳

But does spending more mean you get a better clean?
Is electric really better than manual?
What features actually matter?
And are some toothbrushes simply better suited to certain people?

We’re going to find out! 👀

This is all about looking at toothbrushes from a dental perspective — not just what the packaging promises!

And we’re VERY excited to get started… 😂🪥
