Today we’re celebrating the star of the show, our Practice Principal and the Queen of Cosmetic Dentistry & Facial Aesthetics — Melanie! 🦷✨

Mel is the perfect mix of caring, kind, hilarious and fiercely dedicated. She has so much time, love and care for our patients and our team — but don’t be fooled by the fun and laughter… when it comes to work, Mel means business! 😂

Over the years, she has worked incredibly hard, with commitment, passion and determination, to build Oakley Road into the modern, forward-thinking practice it is today. Always bringing new ideas, new approaches and plenty of energy — and most importantly, putting our patients at the heart of everything we do. ❤️

And it’s no surprise that our patients absolutely love her! 🥰

🎓📚 SCHOOLS ARE BACK… BUT THEY’RE NOT THE ONLY ONES HOT ON EDUCATION! 🦷

At Oakley Road, we educate our patients every single day! 👩‍🏫🪥

Because looking after your smile isn’t just about having a check-up — it’s about understanding your mouth, spotting changes early and knowing how to keep your teeth and gums healthy at home.

So, here are our 6 dental lessons for today! ✏️🦷

📖 LESSON 1 — Regular check-ups
Keep up with your recommended dental examinations so we can spot any problems early.

🪥 LESSON 2 — Brush twice a day
Morning AND night! For at least two minutes with fluoride toothpaste helps keep plaque under control.

🩸 LESSON 3 — Bleeding gums are NOT normal
If your gums regularly bleed when brushing or cleaning between your teeth, it can be a sign of gum disease. Don’t ignore it — let us have a look.

🍎 LESSON 4 — Think about your diet
What you eat and drink matters! Frequent sugary snacks and drinks can increase your risk of tooth decay, so try to keep them to mealtimes where possible.

🦷 LESSON 5 — Spit, don’t rinse!
After brushing, spit out the toothpaste but don’t rinse with water. This allows the fluoride to stay on your teeth for longer and keep protecting them.

✨ LESSON 6 — Get between those teeth!
Your toothbrush can’t reach everywhere. Interdental brushes help clean between your teeth where plaque can build up and contribute to gum disease.

👀 AND ONE MORE THING… CHECK YOUR MOUTH!

Just like we encourage you to look after your teeth and gums, it’s important to be aware of any changes in your mouth — such as lumps, ulcers, unusual patches, swelling or anything that doesn’t heal as expected.

If you notice something that concerns you, tell your dentist.
