Small signs can hide bigger problems 👀

In the first image, one tooth shows clear decay, while the neighbouring tooth already has early hidden changes that are not always visible or painful. This is quite common — caries often develops quietly, without any symptoms.

In the second stage, the decay has been carefully removed and the tooth structure thoroughly cleaned, preserving as much natural tissue as possible.

In the final result, the teeth are restored to a natural appearance, including carefully recreated anatomical details such as natural fissure patterns, so they blend seamlessly with the surrounding teeth.

This case is a reminder that pain is not a reliable indicator of dental health. Regular dental examinations help detect problems early, when treatment is simpler, more conservative, and more predictable.

Regular check-ups help us catch these issues before they become more serious (and more costly to treat).

If something doesn’t look or feel quite right, don’t wait—early care makes all the difference.

🦷 Do you grind your teeth at night without realising it?

Many people only discover they grind or clench their teeth once damage has already started.

This simple device, called a Brux Checker, is worn for one night only to reveal where your teeth are wearing against each other. These clear markings help identify signs of teeth grinding (bruxism) that often go unnoticed.

At Ferry Dental Centre in Southampton, we use this to check if a patient grinds their teeth at night.

If left untreated, grinding may increase the risk of tooth wear, cracks, or fractures over time.

Discover the signs of teeth grinding and how to protect your teeth before damage occurs.

✨ A recent composite bonding transformation ✨

The patient came to us with:
• Worn and uneven edges
• Old, defective restorations
• Signs of grinding (bruxism)

Dr Iuri Coev carefully restored a natural, balanced and refreshed smile — all in a minimally invasive way.

To help protect the results long-term, a custom night appliance was also provided to prevent further wear from grinding or clenching.

🔍 Do you have signs of tooth wear?
You might notice:
• Shortened or flattened teeth
• Chipped or rough edges
• Increased sensitivity
• Yellowing (due to enamel thinning)
• Small cracks or uneven surfaces

If this sounds familiar, contact us today — we’re here to help.

🦷 Why advanced 3D imaging matters in root canal treatment

Root canal treatment is not only about removing infection—it is about fully understanding the internal anatomy of the tooth to ensure nothing is missed.

Traditional X-rays are extremely useful, but they provide a limited, two-dimensional view. In some cases, this means the true number and shape of the canals may not be fully visible.

With CBCT (3D imaging), we are able to view the tooth from multiple angles, giving a far more detailed and accurate diagnosis.

This allows us to:
• Identify the exact number and shape of canals
• Detect hidden or additional anatomy
• Reduce the risk of missed infection
• Plan and deliver more precise, predictable treatment

✨ When it comes to preserving your natural tooth, accuracy is everything.

Choosing a practice equipped with advanced 3D imaging ensures a higher level of diagnostic confidence and a better long-term outcome for your treatment.
