Dental implants can fail…

Dental implants are a brilliant solution to replace missing teeth, but you need to look after them.

You would take your car to be serviced every year, clean it every couple of months and make sure you avoided any scratches or scrapes.

Dental implants are exactly the same!

It’s important to see the hygienist regularly, commit to excellent home care and avoid things like smoking if you want your dental implants to stand the test of time!

Steel City Smiles Pledge

On behalf of my patients, I’ve pledged to donate £25 for every implant that I place, to two incredible local charities — The Archer Project and the S6 Foodbank.

The Archer Project helps people who are homeless or vulnerable get back on their feet — offering food, support, and a safe place to rebuild their lives.

The S6 Foodbank provides emergency food and care to families who are struggling to make ends meet.​

Implants are a fantastic solution to replace missing teeth, but they are not fit and forget.

Here are my top 5 tips for looking after your implants.

1. See the dental hygienist regularly. Your dentist should advise you how frequent this needs to be.

2. Avoid smoking!

3. Keep up a good home-care routine, including brushing twice a day and cleaning in between your teeth and implants.

4. In certain situations you might be advised to wear a night guard to protect your implants and teeth. It’s important you do so!

5. Make sure to keep medical conditions, like diabetes, under control.
